The Boat
The “DOGHOUSE” is the third boat my wife and I have owned. We have owned 2 boats previously that “Buddy” Harris, and his father, Myron “Chief” built. I was so impressed with the sea-keeping ability of my first boat, that I commissioned Buddy to build a boat. In the interim, we bought Buddy’s father’s boat, and ran it for a year to keep our business running while we completed our new boat. Buddy built the hull and we brought the hull to Manteo, where Patric Harrison completed it. We were involved in every step of the project and we were very impressed with how the boat turned out. She is as comfortable, safe, and stable as you will ever fish on. The boat is 61 feet long and she has a pair of Cat motors to get you there and back, quickly. The interior is comfortable and we have plenty of air conditioning and heat to keep you comfortable. There is plenty of bunk space for you to get a nap on the way out or the way in. The interior has all the amenities of home to make sure your “commute” passes quickly.
Many people ask us about the name of the boat. It seems that someone is always in trouble with a significant other, boss, or friend for coming fishing while the other has to stay at home, work, etc………. I have always heard the adage that the person was in the “doghouse”. Naming the boat was a no-brainer for me. If you are going to be in the “Doghouse”, you just as well ride in style!
